ISO 6346 is an international standard that describes the identification of a shipping container. The standard is maintained by the BIC (Bureau International de Containers) and refers to the serial number, owner, country code and size of any given shipping container. One of the most common shipping containers, the 20'DC (6m) has the ISO code: 22G1 (GENERAL PURPOSE CONT.). This can be seen on the markings on the doors and sides of the container.
